Dr Bobby Chan graduated from University of New South Wales in 2007 with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB.BS), BSc (Med). He completed his physician training in St. George Hospital and was accepted into their Endocrine Advanced Training in 2013. He further underwent his advanced endocrine training at Prince of Wales Hospital, Nepean Hospital, Blue Mountain Hospital and Lithgow Hospital. He has also worked in areas of need for Endocrinology services such as Orange.
He has been admitted to the Royal Australian College of Physician as an Endocrinologist in 2015. He worked in St. George Public Hospital and Campbelltown Public Hospital as a staff specialist. He now works most days in South Sydney Medical Specialists (Hurstville and Miranda) and also consults in private hospitals including St George Private Hospital, Hurstville Private Hospital, Waratah Hospital and Kareena Hospital.
Bobby has a particular interest in Type 1, Type 2 Diabetes and Gestational Diabetes. He also enjoys all things in general endocrinology (obesity, insulin resistance, osteoporosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid diseases, pituitary and adrenal diseases).
Bobby also helped to form the Gestational Diabetes Clinic and the Multidisciplinary Case Conference in St. George Hospital in 2016. He was the leading endocrinologist for the Type 1 diabetes clinic in Campbelltown Hospital and has now spent a lot of time with Lucy Casson to develop a transitional type 1 clinic in the private setting. In South Sydney Medical Specialists, he also leads a weight loss program which successfully assisted patients to lose weight through diet and medical treatment. He is also a member of the World Obesity Federation and certified with Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE).
He regularly attends and presents at meetings locally in Australia and also participates in meetings internationally such as the Endocrine Society Meeting in the USA. He is passionate in teaching and continues to devote his time as a hospital clinical tutor.
Bobby is compassionate, understanding and is dedicated to providing the best possible care for his patients. He is also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
